IWHR contributed a keynote report to China’s 2024 “Integration of Industry, Science and Education” Innovation Development Forum, which was held in Pingyu, Henan Province on April 14 to fuel the country’s cultivation of new productive forces.

The Forum, shedding light on challenges and pain points in engineering technology innovation and talent training, convened 32 academicians and 800 scholars and entrepreneurs to explore the integrated development of industry, science and education, especially its development paths and paradigm of shared platforms.

IWHR’s professor Wang Hao, who is also an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered a keynote speech at the Forum.

The National Key Lab for Simulation and Regulation of Water Cycle in River Basin and the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation, both based at IWHR, signed cooperative agreements with the Yellow River Laboratory in Henan Province.

The Forum featured three sub-forums, respectively probing into innovation in talent training models, the construction planning for the second phase of the pilot base of the Yellow River Laboratory, and the “Just in Case It Helps You” consultation platform for the base. The second phase of the pilot base will focus on the dams, rivers, bridges, construction materials and structures. It will also install circuit accelerated loading test facilities and construct virtual reality experience halls.

Experts and business representatives also visited the comprehensive full-scale experimental base of the BeSTDR Infrastructure Hospital, which was unveiled at IWHR in 2021.
