IWHR signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the government of Yuxi City in China’s Yunnan Province in July, in a way to improve Yuxi’s local water environment availing the institution’s expertise and technical advances.
Located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau on the southwest border of China, the Yunnan Province is endowed with plenty of plateau lakes. As the region is endeavoring to improve its ecological evironment, the Yuxi government hoped that the two sides focus on integrated governance of the water environment of the plateau lakes, including the Fuxian Lake, Xingyun Lake and Qilu Lake, as well as planning and construction of large-scale water conservancy projects and modernized irrigation areas.
IWHR has been working in long-term collaboration with Yuxi City in science and technology. The two sides will jointly carry out fundamental research projects and speed up the development of critical technologies for the environmental improvement of plateau lakes, according to the newly signed agreement.
