IWHR hosts training program for high-level talents in water sector

Kicking off on August 24 in Beijing, a four-day training session for senior water professionals in China, jointly organized by IWHR and Department of Human Resources of the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) of China, equipped water talents from across the nation with latest water knowledge and technologies.

As a concrete step to achieve the water-related tasks in China’s Fourteenth Five-Year Plan, the training session was organized to enhance the professional skills of senior water experts nationwide, who are indispensable in the mission to achieve high-quality development and build a highly competent professional team for the country’s water sector.

According to Dr. Peng Jing, Vice President of IWHR, this training session focuses on hot and frontier water issues on both macro and micro levels, such as empowering the water sector by digitalization, and is featured with high quality lecturing given by renowned experts and scholars, emphasizing both teaching and communication.

The training topics cover high-quality development and water security of the Yellow River Basin, digital twin watershed, digital twinning of high arch dams, smart water management, solid development of the Belt and Road, etc., all taught by top-level experts from government departments, institutions in river basins, universities and research institutions.

“Knowledge and experience sharing is critical to the progress of the whole water sector,” said Dr. Peng Jing. “IWHR will work with our fellow agencies and institutions in talent development.”

Tours to the Huawei High-end Communication Center in Beijing and IWHR’s Daxing Experimental Base were organized during the training for practice-based learning.
