2016-02-05

International Hydropower Association (IHA) President Mr. Ken Adams and CEO Mr. Richard Taylor, together with another two representatives from IHA headquarters, visited IWHR on January 29, 2016 to renew the cooperation agreement regarding IHA China Office, which was initially signed in 2012.

IWHR Vice President Yang Xiaodong welcomed the IHA delegation at IWHR headquarters. He briefed upon the past cooperation between the two sides, in particular the grand event of IHA World Congress held in Beijing in May, 2015, in which IWHR, as one of the co-organizers, played an important part. Yang Xiaodong said that, in the face of many new challenges such as climate change, energy structure imbalance, as well as uncoordinated relations between water and energy, China would like to share its experience and knowledge with the rest of the world, in a bid to make more contributions to hydropower sustainability in the world especially in developing countries. IWHR also would like to deepen the cooperation with IHA by bringing into full play the role of IHA China Office as a bridge and bond between the two sides, thus to jointly contribute to world hydropower sustainable development and to achieve mutual benefit through win-win cooperation.

IHA President Ken Adams expressed his heartfelt thanks to IWHR for its sincere cooperation and strong support during the past few years. As he noted, China's hydropower is a key component of the world hydropower industry. By widely participating in the relevant work and activities of IHA, China has made great contributions in stepping up the sustainable development of world hydropower. He also expressed his expectations for future collaboration and exchanges with IWHR.

After that, IHA CEO Mr. Taylor exchanged views with IWHR upon the detailed issues under the cooperation framework. He spoke highly of the substantial and efficient cooperation between IHA and IWHR and the progress made in information exchanges, knowledge communication and experience sharing, etc. between China and the world. He also expressed his special thanks to IWHR for its great contributions made in the 2015 IHA World Congress. He hoped that, by renewing the agreement, both parties could impel the cooperation to a new stage.
