International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) Vice President Dr. Marian Muste visited IWHR on September 26, 2014 and met the institute’s vice president Dr. Jia Jinsheng.

Dr. Jia welcomed the guest and thanked him for his support of IWHR. He reviewed the cooperation between IWHR and IAHR, and briefed on the preparation of IAHR Beijing Office. He said IWHR would, based on the existing advantages, make coordinated arrangements to strongly support the operation of the office. He also hoped to enhance cooperation with Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research (IIHR), where Dr. Muste is working as a researcher, in the fields of collaborated research, mutual visits and joint training of graduate students.

Dr. Muste thanked IWHR for its friendly cooperation and support, and said he is looking forward to the launch of IAHR Beijing Office. He indicated IIHR would promote substantial cooperation with IWHR particularly in fields of flood forecast, integrated management and risk mapping. After the meeting, he visited the institute’s Research Center on Flood and Drought Disaster Reduction and had detailed technical discussions there.

On the same day, Dr. Muste also visited IAHR Beijing Office and met the representatives of student chapters of IAHR. He also visited IWHR’s Department of Water Environment as well as the automatic monitoring lab of Beijing IWHR Technology Co., Ltd.
