Biography
After graduated from Tsinghua University with a Ph.D. in 1989, Wang Hao was determined to work on hydrology and water resources research. His main contributions include: creation of the theory of dualistic nature-social water cycle; construction of a complete set of technical systems for water resources monitoring and simulation, evaluation and allocation, dispatching and management; and promotion of the development of hydrology and water resources. On the basis of identifying the dualistic nature-social water cycle and the associated process coupling mechanisms of water chemistry, water ecology and sediment, Prof. Wang Hao has innovatively developed a number of technologies, including those for multi-dimensional control of water cycle, joint allocation and dispatch of water resources quantity-quality-efficiency, basin-wide comprehensive pollution treatment, as well as ecological protection and restoration of rivers and lakes. His research results have been widely applied in the management of water resources, environmental protection, forestry, land resources and other departments, supporting the planning and scheduling of China's major projects such as South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the Three Gorges Project, and creating significant benefits for the society, economy and eco-environment.
