Beijing IWHR Corporation finished the upgrade of governor at Baozishi Hydropower Station in Jiangxi Province, and the project was accepted in November 2014.
Baozishi Hydropower Station consists of two 20 MW bulb type generators. Because the inertia of generating units is small while that of the water flow is big, this hydropower station has high requirement on the adjustability of the governor.
According to this requirement, Beijing IWHR Corporation applied the CVZT-150-6.3 plug-in digital governor in the station. During the in-situ test, the governor demonstrated a stable action, with the dynamic performance completely meeting the demand for generator operation and load rejection. By using such governor, the low frequency de-excitation during load rejection, big speed oscillating during no-load running and grid connection difficulty could all be solved. According to rough estimation, with this new governor, each unit could save 50 MWh of electricity every year.
