IWHR completed two projects sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), namely “Management and Monitoring Technology and Development of Information System for Safe Rural Water Supply” and “Research on Technologies for Drinking Water sterilization and Water Quality Inspection in Rural Area.”

For the first project, IWHR has drafted the technical rules for the management and operation of rural water supply projects and the guidelines for project maintenance, optimized the official website and rolled out the relevant software. For the second one, IWHR has carried out in-depth study on the status quo and development trend of sterilization technology for drinking water in both China and other countries, the appropriate technology and facility for water sterilization in rural areas, operation and management of these facilities and the effect evaluation.

Based on such work, IWHR has come up with a set of technologies for the designing of sterilization technology, the operation and management of sterilization facility and the inspection and evaluation of sterilization effect, with the Qionglai city in southwest China’s Sichuan Province as the demonstration project.
