IWHR cosponsored the 10th Sino-American Technology and Engineering Conference (SATEC) Forum on Water Ecology Building in Suzhou, a southern city of China, which was successfully convened with the presence of over 40 experts from both China and abroad.

Based on the investigation to several project sites, the experts of the seminar analyzed and discussed the existing problems in the water ecology development of Suzhou city. Presentations were made at the seminar regarding the status quo of China’s water environment and the counter measures, the impact of climate change, water supply security, restoration of water ecology, flood management and the treatment of Taihu Lake, etc. The achievement of the seminar was crystalized into a proposal regarding the building of water ecology of China which was presented to the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.

The SATEC Forum was jointly initiated by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of China and Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA. The forum is hosted every other year in China and has been carried out for ten times till now. At the 10^th SATEC Forum, it is for the first time that the special group of water ecology development is established, talking about the subject of Water Ecology Building against Global Climate Change.
