The Centrifugal Simulation Test Center, established in 1991, is one of the earliest to engage in centrifugal model testing research in China, as well as a research platform with great influence in this field at home and abroad. The Center has carried out a large number of scientific research and experimental work in the fields of water conservancy and hydropower engineering, transportation engineering, marine engineering and aerospace engineering, and achieved a great many innovative scientific research results.
The Center has presided over and completed more than 20 major national, provincial and ministerial scientific research and experimental projects, including projects funded by the National 973 Program, National Science and Technology Major Program during “8th Five-Year Plan” and the “9th Five-Year Plan” periods, and National Science and Technology Support Program during “11th Five-Year Plan” and the “12th Five-Year Plan” periods, NSFC-funded projects, as well as provincial and ministerial key or scientific and technological innovation projects, etc.; and presided over and completed the large-scale centrifugal simulation tests for dozens of major water conservancy and hydropower projects such as the Three Gorges Phase II Cofferdam and Xiaolangdi Water Control Project, providing technical support and safety guarantee for the design, construction and operation of water conservancy and hydropower projects in China.
