Research advances in Verification/Calibration Standards of water flow measuring apparatus

Abstract: The verification/calibration standards can assess the metrological characteristics of measuring apparatus. In open channels and closed conduits, the main measuring apparatus for water flow includes liquid flowmeters, rotating element current-meters, stage gauge, open channel weirs and flumes, and hydraulic structures. An overview of the current status of verification/calibration standards of water flow measuring apparatus is presented in this paper, and the main problems of standards are analyzed. In the end, 20 standards for water flow measuring apparatus that are in need of immediate reformulation were proposed, which provide the basis for medium and long-term plan of verification/calibration standards of water flow measuring apparatus.
