Abstract: With the Fluent-3D, this paper conducts the simulation and calculation of the aerodynamic characteristics of the forced draft mechanical cooling tower in the important water system of the inland nuclear power plant, and obtains the relationship between the tower shape and the resistance. The results show that the height of the fill does not much affect the resistance of the tower, but it affects the velocity distribution on the fill section. The lower the fill height is, the more uniform the velocity distribution is. The higher the height of the convergent section of the outlet is, the less the resistance is, and the more uniform the velocity distribution is.
