Abstract: The formation causes of corbel cracks in a workshop were investigated and analyzed in detail through non-destructive tests and check calculation. The stress states of the corbel under the influence of temperature were analyzed through finite element numerical simulation, which found the cause of the cracks. The theoretical analysis conclusion conformed to the pattern of the corbel cracks. It is revealed that unreasonable bearing type and temperature stress were the main reasons for the cracks, which should not be ignored in the design. In the design process, thermal stress should be taken into consideration and reasonable measures should be taken to reduce the restraint stress of the bearing structures. Feasible strengthening strategies were proposed for the corbel cracks.
