Three dimensional numerical simulation of seepage for Gaoquan Hydropower Station and analysis of reasons of foundation seepage

Abstract: According to the engineering geological and hydrogeological characteristics of dam region, a model for the three-dimensional numerical simulation of flow is established to solve the seepage problem of Gaoquan Hydropower Station. Based on the simulation of the three-dimensional seepage fields, the parameter of foundation seepage is back-analysed using the long-term monitoring results of leakage, and the rea sons of foundation seepage are analyzed through the parameter variation before and after the curtain construction. The results show that the foundation parameter before the impervious curtain construction is greater than that after the impervious curtain construction due to existing foundation seepage caused by karst channels, and the impervious curtain plays a major role in controlling the leakage of the dam site.
