Research on public participation in water resources management—a case study of water resources management in Ningbo

Abstract: Public participation in water resources management can make the enforcement of decisions and policies more efficient, which helps to realize the sustainability of water resources. In order to make full use of public participation, the effective mechanism of public participation was analyzed from the theory and practice separately in Ningbo. The current situation of public participation in water resources management in Ningbo had been analyzed in this paper. Based on some relevant researches, the paper assessed the stage of Ningbo -- the symbolic stage. Finally, in view of the present situation, the paper gave the measures and the improvement tactics of implementing the complete participation from the macro and micro levels in Ningbo.
