Abstract: This paper summarized recent advances and issues in the research on seismic responses of the high arch dam system. The contents include: (1) dynamic contact problems of the contraction joints of dam bodies; (2) simulations of the energy dissipation of the far-field foundation region; (3) interactions of dam foundation and reservoir water; (4) the stability of dam abutments; (5) the nonlinear analyses of dam bodies and foundations. This paper also presented the current research topics on the seismic response analyses of high dam systems.
