Abstract: By qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation, the water resources security issue faced by Poyang lake was considered. It was shown that long-range variable trend of nature water resources in Poyang basin is unobvious and lower water level in dry season causes the seasonal and engineering water resource shortage around Poyang lake. Centralized water storage from September to October and release of clean water of The Three Gorges Reservior make the dry season earlier and strengthen the contradiction between water supply and water demand in Poyang Basin.
