【Abstract】 Focusing on the issues of whether high dam and huge reservoir could trigger strong earthquake, which are concerned worldwide recently, the relationship between reservoir impounding and reservoir earthquakes was discussed. It could be concluded that the devastating Wenchuan earthquake has no direct relationship with the impounding of Zipingpu and Three Gorges reservoir. Besides, the understandings and points of view on reservoir earthquake of the authors are presented for further discussion.
